Limitations / workarounds

There are a couple that should be made clear when using the datastudio connector. These are workarounds or things to keep in mind when using the connector due to some limitations from the datastudio API.

Using multiple component types in the same report

Though you are able to use multiple component types in your datastudio reports, it should be known that you will need to configure a new instance of the connector in datastudio for each unique component type you wish to use .

This is because the fields available for each component to use are dynamically generated based on your selection. Though you ‘can’ enable property sharing and change these on specific charts / tables as you wish, the available fields will unfortunately not update even if you change the component type this way.

Start dates and end dates

Though this should be obvious and self-explanatory, it is worth mentioning that as the ART system normally handles this for you automatically and restricts the days you can choose on the date ranges.

When using date ranges in datastudio, it is important to ensure that the start date and end date do not go past the day before the current date. A recommendation is to make use of the advanced default date capabilities in datastudio, and setting the start date -8 days and end date -1 day to present you the last 7 days of data by default.
